Position Summary:

The Senior Database Administrator is responsible for providing comprehensive administration, design, optimization, and security of enterprise databases supporting mission-critical systems. This role performs advanced database engineering and sustainment functions, including long-range capacity planning, performance tuning, data integrity assurance, and security enforcement. The Senior DBA works closely with system owners, developers, and infrastructure teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and secure database operations in a client/server environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all activities related to administration, operation, maintenance, and security of enterprise databases.
  • Design, create, implement, and maintain complex relational databases in client/server environments.
  • Project long-range database capacity, performance, and administration requirements in coordination with information systems leadership.
  • Conduct database quality control, auditing, and validation to ensure accurate, consistent, and appropriate use of data.
  • Design and maintain database structures including schema design, access methods, indexing strategies, and storage allocation.
  • Implement and manage database security controls, access permissions, and data protection mechanisms.
  • Advise users and application teams on database access, performance optimization, and data usage best practices.
  • Perform database programming and support systems design using query languages such as SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Support front-end and back-end integration through effective database design and optimization.
  • Maintain database dictionaries, metadata repositories, and technical documentation.
  • Monitor compliance with database standards, procedures, and governance requirements.
  • Support backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations planning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database performance, availability, and integrity issues.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an information technology–related field.
  • Ten (10) years of progressive experience using database query languages such as Oracle, PL/SQL, SQL Server, and MS Access.
  • Ten (10) years of hands-on experience administering Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).
  • Demonstrated ability to work across multiple operating systems and programming environments.
  • Experience on at least two large-scale enterprise projects administering, operating, maintaining, and securing databases using Oracle, SQL Server, and SSRS.
  • Strong understanding of database architecture, performance tuning, indexing, and query optimization.
  • Experience supporting secure, mission-critical systems in production environments.
  • Must possess an IT-II Critical Sensitive security clearance or Tier 3 (T3) Secret clearance

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting databases in highly regulated or government environments.
  • Familiarity with audit, compliance, and data governance requirements.
  • Experience supporting large-scale, high-availability, or distributed database architectures.
  • Knowledge of automation and monitoring tools for database performance and availability.

In accordance with pay transparency law, the expected salary range for this position is?116,000-145,000 annually. The actual compensation offered will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. We are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This posted range reflects our good faith estimate of the compensation we reasonably expect to offer for this role at the time of posting.
