Position Summary: The SAP Business Objects Developer is responsible for the technical analysis, design, development, and testing of data connections, universes, and dashboards/reports. This individual will have a strong understanding of SAP BusinessObjects tools and a strong understanding of data modeling, report design, and performance optimization. This role is critical in transforming complex data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across the organization.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, and deploys reports, dashboards, and universes using SAP BusinessObjects (Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, Lumira, etc.).
- Builds reports/visualizations within the analytical framework to support key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics.
- Collaborates with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and translates them into technical specifications.
- Reviews functional requirements, performance criteria, and data consumption needs to complete the design of technical components.
- Desings and develops complex analytical queries, reports and visualizations utilizing the Enterprise Business Objects Suite of tools (e.g., Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence Reports, Lumira Visualizations, and OLAP queries).
- Owns execution of test activities and addresses/resolves technical issues to align with business requirements.
- Maintains and enhances existing BusinessObjects reports and universes to meet evolving business needs.
- Optimizes report performance and ensures data accuracy and integrity across all reporting solutions.
- Integrates BusinessObjects with SAP modules and other data sources as needed.
- Supports data governance and security protocols, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
- Participates in BI strategy discussions and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adheres to all certified processes as part of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and information security, which includes actively participating in quality assurance activities and ensuring the protection of sensitive information in accordance with our security policies.
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by direct supervisor.
Required/Desired Qualifications:
Education, Training, and Experience:
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or another related field.
- At least 4 years of SAP BusinessObjects development experience.
- Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud or other modern BI platforms is preferred.
- SAP certification in BusinessObjects or related BI tools is a plus.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain Government clearance
Specific skills, knowledge, and abilities:
- Proficiency in Web Intelligence, Crystal Reports, and Universe Design Tool (UDT/IDT).
- Strong SQL skills and experience with SAP or other data warehouse platforms.
- Familiarity with data visualization best practices and performance tuning techniques.
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of ETL processes and data integration tools is preferred.
- Understanding of Agile methodologies and DevOps practices is preferred.
